Overview

MyBloomed (mybloomed.ca) is a live healthcare e-commerce platform delivering supplements and prescription items to patients across Canada. Built on a WooCommerce backbone with 50+ products, it handles prescription validation, PHIPA-compliant data flows, and EMR system integration.

The Problem

Healthcare e-commerce is fundamentally different from retail. Products require prescription validation before checkout, patient data must meet PHIPA standards, and the approval workflow needs to connect doctors, admins, and patients in a single automated flow — without manual hand-offs.

My Role

Led full platform development from architecture to launch. Designed the product conditional logic, built the EMR integration points, implemented security configurations, and collaborated on strategic planning for future service expansions.

Challenges

Healthcare compliance and product logic had to co-exist. Conditional WooCommerce logic for prescription visibility is non-trivial, and every checkout path needed to be airtight from a data handling standpoint.

What I Learned

In regulated e-commerce, the user flow and the compliance model are the same design problem. Getting patients to a correct checkout state is both a UX challenge and a legal one.
